Great article. I’ve had numerous longer term relationships and many shorter ones as well. Each time I’ve learned and grown. It can be so difficult to see our own patterns, especially while we’re in the relationship. Seems to be a natural human tendency to blame. I’m certainly guilty of that. However, I’ve found that once the dust settles, and am willing/able to release the resentment, I have an opportunity for introspection that can afford me a new pathway to improvement. I certainly appreciate all the relationships I’ve had and how they have helped me have a fulfilling life. I also have learned to appreciate the times I’ve been single and free of emotional entanglement. As a bonus, I’ve been a single dad and primary care giver twice, and have no regrets about that. Partnered or not I believe we choose to be happy – or not.
